Who cares that I have an upper respiratory infection? You see, I’m a heart transplant recipient and taking anti rejection medication that, I’m discovering IRL, really messes with my immune system. Last year I had 4 bad URI, taking me off the pitch for 3 months. It’s hard to plan a getaway to the ocean when it’s 50/50 if you’re going to be unwell.
Yesterday was January 3, and I started with a runny nose and a cough. Today it’s a flood zone and a sore throat and a wetter than normal cough. I really don’t want to start a 5th round of antibiotics in the last 4 months, I really don’t.
You see, when you’ve been through what I have, everything just gets magnified.
Yesterday I wrote about my blood pressure, which isn’t much better yet, thanks for asking. That sensation that you feel with a low blood pressure, well that’s what it felt like when I was dying in the spring of 2024, so yeah, it’s going to cause me a bit of anxiety. Is this just the blood pressure medication, or the onset of acute rejection? The questions and uncertainly arise long before the answers do.
